Product Basics & Buying Guide

A car jump starter is a portable device built with a high-rate power lithium battery. Its core function is to deliver instant high current to crank the car engine when the vehicle battery is drained and fails to start. Most models also integrate additional features such as power bank, LED lighting, and emergency rescue functions. It is widely applicable to passenger cars, SUVs, commercial vehicles, construction machinery and more.

The core differences lie in discharge capability and safety design:

  • Output capability: A jump starter features high-rate discharge performance, delivering peak current from hundreds to thousands of amps instantly to meet the instantaneous high-current demand of car starting. A regular power bank only outputs around 5V/2A low current for charging digital devices, and cannot drive a car starter motor at all.
  • Safety configuration: Jump starters are equipped with professional intelligent battery clamps with multiple protections for automotive scenarios, such as reverse polarity, short circuit, and overvoltage. Regular power banks have no such high-voltage protection designs and cannot be used for car starting.

There are two core indicators to reference:

  1. Battery voltage: Most passenger cars, SUVs and light trucks use 12V batteries, so choose a 12V jump starter. Heavy trucks and large construction machinery usually use 24V batteries, so choose a dedicated 24V model.
  2. Engine displacement: Select according to the maximum starting displacement specified on the product. Diesel engines require higher starting current than gasoline engines of the same displacement, so it is recommended to reserve sufficient margin.

Operation & Usage Guide

Standard operation steps are as follows:

  1. Make sure the jump starter is at least 50% charged, and turn off all electrical accessories in the vehicle (air conditioner, headlights, stereo, etc.).
  2. Clamp the intelligent battery clamps to the positive and negative terminals of the car battery respectively (red clamp to positive +, black clamp to negative -).
  3. Wait until the indicator on the intelligent clamp shows steady green, then get in the car and turn the ignition key to start.
  4. After the engine starts successfully, remove the battery clamps within 30 seconds. Remove the negative clamp first, then the positive clamp.

Starting a normal-displacement passenger car consumes only about 3%-5% of the battery capacity. Taking a 12000mAh mainstream model as an example, it can support 20-30 consecutive starts on a full charge (actual number may vary slightly depending on ambient temperature and engine displacement).

Yes. All our models support dead battery start function. Even if the original car battery is completely dead with 0V, the jump starter can directly drive the starter motor to start the engine as long as it is sufficiently charged.

The product is rechargeable and reusable. The built-in power lithium battery has a cycle life of ≥1000 charges under normal use, and can serve stably for 3-5 years in typical usage scenarios.

Safety & Protection

No. All models are equipped with intelligent safety battery clamps with reverse polarity protection. If the terminals are reversed, the device will automatically cut off output and trigger sound and light alarm. It will not damage the vehicle circuit or the jump starter itself. You can use it normally after correcting the connection.

No. The product has 8 layers of safety protection circuits including overvoltage, overcurrent, short circuit and over-temperature protection. It delivers stable output voltage without impulse current that could damage vehicle ECU, onboard computer and other electronic components. It is safe to use.

The product adopts high-temperature resistant battery cells and protective structure design, with an operating temperature range from -20℃ to 65℃. Short-term placement inside the car will not cause safety issues. However, it is recommended to store it in a cool place inside the car and avoid long-term exposure to direct sunlight to prolong battery life.

A small spark at the moment of connection is normal, caused by instantaneous conduction when the clamp touches the battery terminal. It will not cause danger. If there is continuous heavy sparking, smoke or other abnormal conditions, please disconnect immediately and check for short circuit or equipment failure.

Displacement reference for standard 12V series:

  • Entry model: Up to 4.0L Gasoline / 2.0L Diesel
  • Mainstream model: Up to 6.0L Gasoline / 3.0L Diesel
  • High-power model: Up to 8.0L Gasoline / 4.0L Diesel

24V series supports diesel engines up to 12L. Please refer to the corresponding product specification sheet for specific parameters.

All models are equipped with USB output ports, supporting fast charging for mobile phones, tablets, cameras, laptops and other digital devices. Some models support DC output to power on-board appliances. They also come with built-in LED emergency lights with three modes: steady on, strobe, and SOS distress signal.

For long-term storage, it is recommended to recharge the device every 3 months and keep the battery level between 50%-80% to maximize battery life. If used frequently, charge it timely according to usage frequency.

Troubleshooting

Common causes and solutions:

  • Insufficient charge of the jump starter: Fully charge the jump starter before trying again.
  • Poor connection: Check if the clamps are tightly secured, and clean the oxidation on the battery terminals before retrying.
  • Displacement exceeds product capacity: Replace with a higher-power model.
  • Low ambient temperature: Low temperature reduces battery discharge performance. Warm up the jump starter before trying again.
  • Vehicle itself malfunction: Such as damaged starter motor, fuel system failure, etc. The vehicle needs to be inspected and repaired.
  1. Check if the charging cable and charger are working properly. Try a different interface or charger.
  2. Make sure the charging environment temperature is between 0℃ and 45℃. Too low or too high temperature will trigger protection and stop charging.
  3. If it enters over-discharge protection after long-term unused, plug in the charger and leave it for at least 30 minutes to activate before normal charging.

Steady red or flashing red indicates abnormal connection, commonly caused by reverse polarity, short circuit or poor contact. Please check if the positive and negative terminals are connected correctly and if the clamps are tightly secured. Steady green means normal status and the vehicle is ready to start.
